The turist area of Land of Three Peaks includes municipalities of: Braies, Villabassa, Dobbiaco(1240m),San Candido(1 173 m) and Sesto(1 316 m).
The most popular symbol of Dolomites – Three Peaks are ‘Tre Cime di Lavaredo’ (of height 2999 m ,2973 m and 2857 m) until 1919 consisted the border between Austria and Italy.
At present they mark the border between italian provinces Bolzano( Alta Pusteria) and Belluno(Cortina d’Ampezzo).
Tre Cime give birth to river Rienza, that goes through lakes lago di Landro and lago di Dobbiaco enters Pusteria Valley to finally join river Isarco near Bressanone.

In Alta Pusteria the most dominant is Cross-Country skiing with more than 200 km of runs suitable for every skill of skier.
The centre of Nordic Skinng is Dobbiaco, that already four times hosted hosted the World Cup Cross Country Ski Championship competitions.
The ideal snow conditions on the slopes are the reason of commenced here every year Snowboard’s World Championship.
But ‘in the shade’ of Tre Cime there is plenty of possibilities for downhill skiing as well.
There are seven ski resorts in Alta Pusteria: Monte Elmo(Sesto),Croda Rossa(Sesto), Waldheim Sesto, Monte Baranci(San Candido), Dobbiaco Rienza, passo Monte Croce and Braies.
The heart ski area is Sesto, from there the lifts are taking skiers to the plateau of Croda Rossa (Rotwand 2000 m) under the peaks of Tre Cime mountains, or on the opposite side to the
plateau under Monte Elmo ( plateau at 2050 m, mountain peak 2433m).

Among the pistes there are particular worth mention:
About 3,8 km long new Raut Piste also known as ‘Direttissima’, the longest ( 4,75 km ) downhill to Versciacio, and the black descent Hahnspiel-Eck to Larch Hut.

Alta pusteria skiarea is the part of Dolomiti-Superski, after purchasing the special skipass there is a possibility to ski in 12 skiareas with more than 1200 km of downhills.
The skibus takes the skiers to Plan de Corones and Alta Badia linked to Sella Ronda resorts.
