Belpiano (Schoeneben)

The ski resort gets its name from the mountain range Belpiano (Schoeneben) with highest peak Elfer 2925 m near Passo di Resia on the border with Austria.
In the Roman times here run the ancient route Via Claudia Augusta connecting region of Veneto with Upper Bavaria near the present city Ausburg.
One of the most popular landscape symbols of the area is the belfry of the Ghotic church standing out of the waters of Lake Resia, an artificial reservoir created in 1950.
The waters covered area of old village Resia, the habitants moved to the new location nearby, only the church had to stay on the old place now cowered by the water in summer,
or ice during the winter months.

With 28 km of downhill runs, 7 km of Nordic skiing routes and 2 km of toboggan runs.
The ski resorts itself is rather small, but provides enough of facilities for a family holiday.
Most demanding skiers can buy the skipass for 16 resorts of Ortler Skiarena, which includes located on the other side of the Lake Resia resorts Valle Lunga and Malga San Valentino.
There is also the ski pass Skiparadies only for resorts near Passo Resia : Belpiano, Valle Lunga, Malga San Valentino and Austrian Nauders ( which is not a part of Ortler Skiarena ).
