Christmas is in the air! We are happy to invite you again this year for the traditional Christmas market in Val Gardena Ortisei. At the foot of the majestic Castle Gardena ( Fischburg ), you can expect our giant Christmas tree, surrounded by lovingly decorated wooden huts.

From 03 December to 30 December 2011 the local exhibitors are going to sell on the market their handmade Christmas items, wooden carved nativity figures from the Val Gardena valley, glass, knitwear, candles, Christmas cards and Ladin specialties. The focus is on craftsmanship and tradition. The Christmas atmosphere will be provided by a comprehensive program of music school and Val Gardena.

The visitors, who came to the Christmas market on 5 December, will get a special surprise: a visit of St. Nicholas and his companions. Santa Clause provides the great joy and surprise for all children both young ones and grown-ups.
In addition to the Christmas market is is worth to pay a visit to the largest hand-carved nativity scene in the world. The cradle of Infant Jesus is prepared by all artisians from the valley, and during some days you can see them working on assembling the pieces of the cradle literally looking behing the sculptor’s shoulder.
