Dolomiti Superski
System Dolomiti Superski incorporates about 50 ski resorts of East Dolomites into 12 ski areas.
There are 450 lift facilities serving total of about 1 200 km of slopes, half of them are with artificial snow support.
The most famous town is Cortina D’Ampezzo , host of winter Olympics in 1956 , and various FIS World Cup competitions, like Aspen draws attention of rich and famous,and was the place of numerous movies, like James Bond stories with Lozenby and Moore.
The other places for regular FIS Alpine World Cup competitions are Santa Cristina in Val Gardena with famous run ‘Saslong’, and ‘Gran Risa’ slope in Alta Badia.
1,174 kilometres for cross-country skiing as long as 60 km in Valle d’Anterselva ( Plan de Corones ) and the traditional ski race ‘Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa’ (70 km ) make Dolomities heaven for cross-country ski lovers.
The beautiful mountain landscape invites for winter and snowshoe walking.
22 snowparks for snoboard fans, tobogganning, iceskating in various ski centres complete the offer.

How to get to Dolomites:
Air:
the closest airport is in Bolzano, but used only for chartered flights, and has only one daily flight to Rome Fiumicino airport.
the closest international Italian airports are Treviso and Venezia Marco Polo with regular bus connections to Dolomite resorts.
From Treviso there is 16 km to Passo Rolle, 139 km to Cortina, and most of locations in Dolomites can be reached in appr. 2,5h.
Next there is the Airport Valerio Catullo in Villafranca near Verona (appr. 3h) connected with Bolzano ( 158 km) by the motorway A22 ( intern. E45).
Further ones are the airport near Brescia, and three near Milano(Mailand) : Bergamo, Malpensa and Linate(appr. 4,5h).
From all of them you reach first the motorway A4 (E64) Milano-Brescia-Verona, and then to western Dolomites take the turning from Verona via A22 to Bolzano.
To eastern Dolomites you can follow the motorway A22 via Bolzano, or keep along the motorway A4 from Milano to Venice, and near Venice take the motorway A27 to Belluno.
Car:
While planning the trip check the local weather forecast, some roads lead 1000 – 2000 m above sea level, and the weather conditions can change very rapidly.
During the weekend ( Friday-Saturday) expect some hours of heavy traffic, especially on A22 between Bressanone and Trident.
The light screens along the main roads show actual road conditions, unfortunately in Italian language only.
There are two main passes from Austria to Italy :
The first one Brennero Pass on A22 (E45) road connecting Insbruck with Trident, and between Bressanone and Bolzano are most of country roads leading to the given ski resorts.
The second way is form Lienz in Austria to Dobbiaco (Toblach), from where you can take 49 via Brunico to Bressanone, or 51 to Cortina and Arabba.
From middle of Italy the motorways are leading to Verona, or Venice.
From Verona one follows the same A22 road, but in the opposite direction, Verona to Trident and Bolzano.
From Venice there is A27 motorway to Belluno, and road 51 to Cortina.
Train:
on the railroad line between Insbruck and Trentino the train stops at Fortezza near Bressanone.
From Fortezza is the local line to Dobbiaco.
