While the hot sun fries the skin of lazy vacationers in Europe, on the other side of the Globe, snowboarders test their skills during the FIS Junior World Cup held in New Zealand.
Yesterday ( on August 25, 2010. ) the young Italian boarder Manuel Pietropoli arrived at the 3rd place in the halfpipe contest.
Manuel can be called ‘Junior’ only due to his date of birth on the passport, he is now a mature athlete, for whom yesterdays result is the second achievement in the southern hemisphere,
after the 6th place in Burton NZ Open , held in New Zealand several weeks earlier.
Despite the weather not too promising due to the strong wind, the pipe was in perfect condition allowing Manuel to present a run consisting of backside air, frontside1080, cab 720, frontside 900 and backside 520, which placed him on the podium after his new roommates Iouri Podladtchikov and Christian Haller.
All three winners return home with excellent result finishing in New Zealand Winter Season 2011, here in Europe yet begun.
“I am very happy with the results achieved today, and during Burton NZ Open a few weeks ago. I hope that this will be the great season, one I’m trying to do for years,” said Manuel after the race.
After returning home he will have another reason to celebrate – the opening of Manuel’s own snowboard shop in the famous citadel of Lonato.
