
Peio is the oldest tourist resort in Val di Sole,located in the middle of the famous Stelvio National Park at the bottom of the Ortles Cevedale group of the mountains.
It is often referred as Pejo, which name is quite popular, but not officially recognized.
Peio became famous after 1650 when its thermal water and oil minerals where described by the church as ‘a miraculous gift of God’ and numerous testimonies of witnesses and doctor authorities recognized therapeutic virtues of water from the Fonti di Peio.
At present exists three thermal springs: the Fonte Alpina, the Fonte Antica , and the Nuova Fonte, that provide wide assortment of therapeutic thermal-water treatments in the local
new open Thermal Center.
The ski resort is a part of Skirama Dolomiti Adamello Brenta the connection with other resorts is provided by the free bus service NeveBus, and
the local shuttle bus between Cogolo – Peio Terme that runs every half hour delivers skiers from apartments to the slopes, which altitude varies between 1400 and 2400 meters
