Pinzolo

Pinzolo is located 15 km from Madonna di Campiglio, at the beginning of Val Rendena Valley.
While Madonna – ‘village of dreams’ is purely created as a spa for tourists, Pinzolo still remains is old, historical character from Medieval Ages.
The first people habitated the area of Val Rendena during the Bronze Age, and the present story of Pinzolo starts from the beginning of 5th century,
when San Vigilio, bishop of Trentino came to the valley to evangelize the local people.
At that time the parish church San Lorenzo, which finally got the present form in 1765.
On the outer walls of cemetery church San Vigilio, one can see the famous frescos ‘Danza Macabra’ (death dance) from 1539 by Baschenis.
Today Pinzolo with its ‘satellites’ Carisolo,Giustino and Caderzone, forms tourist centre at the bottom of picturesque Doss del Sabion mountain.
The ski area features 26 km of ski slopes with 9 skilifts up to 2.100 m a.s.l.
In the next years will be opened the new junction between Doss del Sabion and Cinque Laghi in Madonna di Campiglio area, that is now accessible from Pinzolo by free ski-bus.
