
Exactly 103 years ago Jan 6, 1906 in Sauze d’Oulx the fist italian ‘winter alpine station’ has been opened for skiers, also for bob and toboggan skiing.
Thorough the years many of top alpine skiers were growing and training in this area.
Piero Gros won the Giant Slalom world cup in 1972, and several other competitions in the following years. Giuliano and Carlo Besson, Pierlorenzo Clataud are the names of other Italian skiers from Sauze d’Oulx.
The village is also well known for its apre ski life, many of local restaurants on and off the snow
are open till late night.
The sport facilities of Sauze d’Oulx, start at 1509 meters and offers many lifts : 11 chair-lifts and 11 ski-lifts, for downhill and cross-country skiing.
Through ski-lift on Col Basset the village is connected with the slopes of Sestriere and via Sansicario with the rest of famous ( not only by Olympics in Torino ) ski resort Vialattea (‘Milky Way’)., which offers 140 ski slopes, on a surface of 400 Km and 92 lifts from 1350 to 2800 meters.
