The first week of March in Val di Fassa is going to be the Telemark and Freeride week.
This is now the 12th time when the people who love the old way of skiing compete
in ‘Scufoneda’ meeting organized by the local club ‘Scufons del Cogo’ from Moena with the main sponsor Polartec.
Telemark technique has been developed some two hundred years ago in Norway, with free-heel ski fastening and one stick only,as the safe way of downhill skiing on fresh or deep snow, this way of skiing still has a lot of lovers both in Europe and in US.
But ‘Scufoneda’ is not only the race competition.Between 1st and 8th of March there will be plenty of food, live music, acrobatic free ride shows and much more.
The most interesting are backcountry and on-piste guided day trips led by the Alpine Guides around Pordoi, Sella, Pampeago, Marmolada, Passo San Pellegrino and Falcade.
In ‘European Telemark Freeride Championship’ competitons are split into three categories : telemark, alpine skiing and snowboard.
The race is going to be held on the north side of Col Margherita at 2 550 m running down to Passo San Pellegrino at 1800 m.
On Friday March 6, 2009
between 10:00am and 1:00pm there is planned elimination round
On Saturday March 7
at 10:00am start of the final round
at 11:00am Freeride Cup
and between 12:30pm – 1:30pm Superfinal European Telemark Freeride Championship
There will also be held competitions for Italian National Telemark Title – FISI
On Sunday March 8, 2009 in Valbona, Lusia
between 10:30am and 1:00pm at Mediolanum run
