The largest ski resort in the northern Apennines takes its name from Monte Cimone which soars up to 2165 meters above sea level.
The accommodation is provided at four communities Sestola, Fanano, Riolunato and Montecreto, the bottom lift station is located near the last one.

In 1922 Abetone hosted first downhill competition in Italy, and in 1937 the first lift has been built there.
Since that time very fast Abetone became the most important ski resort in Central Italy, especially when three great champions from 40’s and 50’s Zeno Colò, Celina Seghi and Vittorio Chierroni scored Olympic trophies.
