In 1967 the first FIS races have been organised on the brand new, created for this event downhill run Saslong in Val Gardena ( Gröden ) .
After 40 years of existence the run, which got the name from famous peak Sassolungo ( 3 181 m ) undergone several modification, and today is much more difficult than the first original line.

As usually, at the end of the year the mens competitions will be held there Super-G on the first day, and Downhill run on the second.

Saslong run starts near the peak Ciampinoi ( 2 254 m ) and follows the slopes in the direction of Santa Cristina, where ends near the center of the village.
The Downhill starts at 2 249 m , Super-G at 2 000 m, both competitions end at the altitude 1 410 m a.s.l.
