From the community of Graun ( Curone ) the small road leads in the heart of Valle Lunga ( Langtaufers Valley )
underneath the glacier of the Ötztal Alps – Palla Bianca ( Weißkugel 3 739 m ) and Weißsee Peak (3 526 m).
The recognized symbol of the area is the old church tower sticking out of the water of the Lake Resia.
In 1950 during the dam construction two lakes were converted into a big one, as a result the village Curone, located between the lakes has been covered by the water.
The habitants moved to the new area nearby, and only the tower today marks the former centre of the old village.
The Ötztal Alps on the border between Austria and Italy is the area of old glaciers , where in the middle of the Val Senales Glacier the 4 000 years old mummy has been found
