When nature is stripped of the colors of autumn and the majestic Dolomite walls reflect the sun’s rays gently illuminating the valley, the picturesque landscape around Ortisei, S. Cristina and Selva Gardena turns like a charm: here comes the snow and the festive atmosphere surrounding the valley, which shines and sparkles in the eye. Above we devise, however, the final touches to the ski slopes blue, red and black with a panoramic view of the Dolomites, which UNESCO included in the Natural World Heritage Site. In 2011, the season in Val Gardena is goingto be open on December 3rd. The valley, voted best ski resort by Mondoneve.it specialized portal, offers not only 500 km (!) of tracks connected to each other, but it is also included in the Dolomites Superski, the largest ski area on a global scale, with 1,200 km of tracks accessible with a single pass.
Routes around the famous Sella Ronda, and Seceda Saslong, winter sports enthusiasts will find everything you could want: modern lifts – like the new six-seater chairlift Sasso Levante at Sella Pass – a great variety of trails, snow conditions throughout the season, romantic cabins, fine cuisine and, last but not least, a unique Alpine panorama.
Advent is heard from Gardena, who live with great participation and keep alive traditions and ancient customs, such as crafts, music and specialties, in a blaze of lights, children’s choirs and bells in celebration. However, hovers over Val Gardena not only the romantic Christmas atmosphere: early in the season, when the world’s great skiing to be found on the downhill slopes of the valley faster than the traditional appointment with the World Cup, the air vibrates with the fever competition.
