The events are going to take place in Snowpark Swatch Mottolino for years considered the best Italian park and one of the best in Europe.
To emphasize the awareness of the natural environment surrounding Livigno, the Protest World Rookie Fest has created a partnership with a project Energy Production from Wood Biomass located in Tirano, just a few miles from Livigno. This partneship has made World Rookie Fest the first event in Italian snowboarding labeled Clima Neutral, certified by the Climate Partner.

The project from Tirano involves plans to heat the structures of the Alpine resort and to produce energy through a system that uses waste biomass as untreated wood from forest maintenance, bark and sawmill waste, and redundant industrial timbering. The wood will come strictly from the surrounding area, which minimize impact of transport.

The burning of wood in the power plant is going to release the same amount of CO2, that the tree has received from the atmosphere during its growth, thus the total CO2 balance equals to zero, having the neutral impact on climate, hence the name Clima Neutral.

“Il Futuro è Qui” ( “The Future is Here” ) is the slogan of the event, which wants to highlight the importance of spreading a new awareness especially among the young players in the World Rookie Fest.
But the sport meeting hosted by Mottolino also wants to promote, and to support the winners in their promising careers.
For best snowboarders this year, the event provides:
an invitation to 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge 2010 in Norway,
a Freeride Trip in Chile followed by a professional video production house,
5 invitations to Protest World Rookie Finals 2010 in Ischgl, Austria.

Extra awards for female participants include:
2 invitations to the Oakley Girl Session in Finland
and technical equipment offered by sponsors Protest Boardwear and Ride Snowboards.
